Quartz var. Amethyst on Chalcedony Rio Grande do Sul, South Region, Brazil 4.32cm x 2.31cm x 2.2cm

Description/Interesting Notes: An unusual example of quartz indeed!!! This specimen consists of a "ball" of light purple amethyst crystals atop a "stem" of colorless quartz crystals!!! Inside the stem, it is clear to see that there is a chalcedony stalactite that runs through the center!!! In addition, there are curious turquoise blue inclusions as well!!! The amethyst "ball" hosts numerous tiny, dark needle-like inclustions as well!!! Looking at the bottom of the specimen, one can clearly see the cross-section of the chalcedony stalactite within!!!
