Quartz pseudomorph after Calcite Cedar City, Iron Co., Utah 4.24cm x 2.87cm x 1.8cm Ex. Florence Mecke Collection Ex. Tony Nikischer Collection

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of quartz after calcite from Utah!!! This specimen consists of a sharply formed, doubly terminated calcite crystal that has been completely replaced by quartz!!! The crystal is prominently perched on matrix and measures well over 2cm!!! On the underside, one can see a small cavity in the crystal that actually hosts some tiny quartz points as well!!! One side of the crystal hosts a somewhat spikey, multi-pointed termination while the opposite termination comes to a more singular point!!! A very interesting and unusual specimen indeed!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!!
