A fantastic example of rhodochrosite after barite from Peru!!! This specimen consists of an aesthetic cluster of sharply bladed
barite crystals that have been replaced by pink rhodochrosite!!! The rhodochrosite is present as intergrown, finely bladed crystals!!! There
are also some bladed calcite crystals present as well as a few tiny quartz points scattered about!!! I have never seen
rhodochrosite from this locality before!!! Although it superficially resembles material more commonly seen from the Manuelita Mine, I have
faith in its labelling since I acquired this specimen from Jaroslav Hyrsl
(a respected mineralogist who makes frequent trips to the localities in Peru)!!! It is quite handsome in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 9th!!!
