Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of rhodochrosite from this unique locality!!! This specimen consists of a fossilized bivalve that has been
completely replaced by light pink rhodochrosite, additionally the cavity within the bivalve has been packed full of additional
mollusc fossils that have also been replaced by pink rhodochrosite - with a snail prominently positioned in the middle!!!
The rhodochrosite replacements that formed inside the bivalve exhibit a brilliantly lustrous surface and slight translucence!!! Upon
close inspection, one can actually see tiny botryoidal crystal forms present in the bivalve replacement!!! This unique deposit was
quickly mined out and no longer exists today!!! Rare material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
