Description/Interesting Notes:
An amazing example of rhodochrosite from Brazil!!! This specimen consists of a sharp, single, floater crystal of rhodochrosite!!! This specimen is
actually from a pegmatite locality - which is extremely rare for rhodochrosite!!! This specimen was perhaps one of our most exciting finds at this year's Tucson show!!! We
had met a miner who ran the operation for well over a decade
and collected this specimen himself sometime in 1992-93!!! This specimen was one of just a few
fine crystals recovered!!! The crystal
has fine pink color, sharp faces, and gemmy clarity!!! The crystal exhibits an unusual flattened triangular habit with modified edges!!! The
crystal appears to be a complete floater with some complex etching in areas!!!
This is truly an extraordinary example of the species from a very rare locality indeed!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 10th!!!
**We have just returned from the annual Gem & Mineral Show in Tucson, Arizona!!! Be sure to stay tuned as we will be listing our exciting acquisitions throughout the next coming weeks!!!***
