Rhodochrosite

Oppu mine, Aomori Prefecture, Tohoku Region, Honshu Island, Japan

13.55cm x 10cm x 5.35cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of rhodochrosite from Japan!!! This specimen consists of a large, complex plate of pink rhodochrosite crystals!!! This specimen is almost entirely comprised of rhodochrosite with just a small amount of pyrite and sphalerite in association!!! The faces are covered with a rich showing of tiny, sparkly pink rhodochrosite crystals!!! There are all manner of of curious forms to be seen throughout the rhodochrosite including a few tube-like structures!!! The reverse shows a thin coating of tan colored material and a few areas of pyrite and sphalerite can be seen as well!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 10th!!!
