Rhodochrosite & Hyalite Opal Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru 6.56cm x 4.92cm x 3.5cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A unique example of rhodochrosite from Peru!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of large, intensely colored scalenohedral rhodochrosite crystals that are aesthetically covered by a thin, translucent coating of hyalite opal!!! These dramatic rhodochrosite crystals range in size up to 3cm!!! The rhodochrosite crystals appear to have a core of magenta-red and an outer layer of deep cherry red!!! In addition to the hyalite opal coating the rhodochrosite crystals, there are a few areas of bubbly-looking botryoidal opal present as well!!!
