Description/Interesting Notes:
A unique example of rhodochrosite with shigaite and baryte from South Africa!!! This specimen consists of a
showy combination of unique, bi-color rhodochrosite crystals in association with complex baryte crystals and
scattered crystals of red-orange shigaite and an unidentified tan colored species!!! This specimen is loaded with
crystals on all sides and in fantastic condition all around!!! The rhodochrosite crystals are sharp, glassy, and gemmy!!! The
rhodochrosite crystals exhibit a striking bi-color appearance, with crystals having a lively pink color with terminations that show a
deep reddich coloration (some of the crystals are doubly terminated as well)!!! The shigaite is present
as scattered hexagonal plates and groups of intergrown plates to several millimeters!!! The baryte crystals are present
as chunky, highly complex crystals that show marked translucence and luster!!! There is some unidentified
tan colored material present as somewhat botryoidal masses as well!!! Upon close inspection this specimen
has quite a bit going on!!! Very handsome in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
