A unique, old time example of rhodochrosite from this historic German locality!!! This specimen consists of a large, vuggy matrix that hosts
a significant showing of curiously colored rhodochrosite crystals!!! Surprisingly, this specimen is MOSTLY rhodochrosite - however it exhibits
a very atypical color!!! The rhodochrosite crystals exhibit a very dark brown color and the more massive portions that comprise a significant
portion of the matrix are nearly black in color!!! Make no mistake however, this IS rhodochrosite!!! The crystals are present in all manner of
curious and complex forms ranging from compound prismatic crystals to botryoidal crystals and everything in between!!! There is a LOT
to see on this specimen!!! A very interesting old time rhodochrosite indeed!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains an old label with L.L. Hubbard (1849-1933) Collection notation!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
