Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, old time example of rhodochrosite from Japan!!! This specimen consists of a complex network of intergrown rhodochrosite crystals!!! The
rhodochrosite crystals have lively pink color and are present as slightly curved groups of repeating rhombs!!! The specimen retains an old label
from the A.E. Seaman Museum as well as affixed catalogue numbers!!! The old label gives the locality as simply "Hokkaido" however it is likely from the
Inakuraishi mine in Hokkaido, which was once Japan's largest manganese deposit!!! Classic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 28th!!!
