Rhodochrosite and Quartz Pachapaqui District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash Department, Peru 5.9cm x 5cm x 4.06cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of rhodochrosite from Pachapaqui!!! This specimen consists of a combination of tiny quartz points in association with intensely colored rhombs of rhodochrosite!!! Many of the rhodochrosite crystals are covered or partially covered with a frosting of microcrystalline quartz!!! This specimen was actually acquired in an older collection and is somewhat unusual looking compared to more contemporary rhodochrosites from the area!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
