An unusual example of rhodochrosite from Wessels!!! This specimen consists of a group of rhodochrosite crystals that have replaced an earlier group of
rhodochrosite crystals on a small amount of manganese-rich matrix!!! The rhodochrosite crystals consist of well-arranged groups of tiny, lustrous, dark red
crystals!!! The underlying crystal forms from the earlier generation of rhodochrosite are still easily discernable!!!
The largest crystal still retains a core of the first generation of rhodochrosite!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
