Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of rhodochrosite from this historic German locale!!! This specimen hosts a complex
grouping of lively red rhodochrosite crystals in association with a few scattered crystals of native
copper coated with a thin, light green dusting of malachite!!! The rhodochrosite crystals have
rich, lively color and marked translucence!!! The crystals exhibit highly complex, intergrown
forms that are much more well defined than the pics show!!! Upon close inspection, one can see a significant
area of greenish native copper in direct association with the rhodochrosite crystals as well as scattered
groups of dendritic crystals tucked into the vuggy limonitic matrix!!! This unusual pairing is quite rare and
characteristic of this locality!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection
of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior
to the Nikischer collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late
1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 25th!!!
