Rhodochrosite with Quartz Sacarîmb (Sãcãrâmb; Szekerembe; Nagyág), Hunedoara Co., Romania 7.36cm x 6.42cm x 4.42cm Ex. Andrew G. Toussaint Collection No. 1505

Description/Interesting Notes: An amazing old time example of rhodochrosite from Nagyag!!! This specimen consists of a showy cluster of pink rhodochrosite crystals in association with some water-clear quartz crystals!!! The rhodochrosite crystals exhibit a curvaceous saddle-like habit with a lively pink color and a luster that is almost slightly pearlescent!!! The quartz crystals are razor-sharp and so clear that they cannot be easily seen unless light is reflected off of them!!! The reverse hosts some small black areas of sphalerite in association with an unidentified species!!! There is also some old catalogue number on the reverse as well!!! This specimen retains an old label from the collection of Andrew G. Toussaint as well!!! These old Nagyag rhodochrosites date back well over 100 years and are very scarce indeed!!!
