Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely extraordinary example of riebeckite with quartz from Malawi!!! These Mt.
Malosa riebeckite crystals represent the finest examples of the species known!!! These are not aegirine crystals, but have been determined
to be riebeckite crystals - amazing riebeckite crystals!!! This specimen hosts a dramatically
elongated crystal of riebeckite set in a
handsome cluster of sharp, darkly colored crystals of riebeckite paired with several doubly terminated smoky quartz crystals
that host inclusions of epididymite!!! The riebeckite
crystals are complete and sharply terminated with glassy luster!!! The riebeckite crystals are almost
black in color, however one can see
tiny flashes and highlights of deep green in some areas!!! The
quartz crystals are doubly terminated with the terminations having zones of pronounced smoky color!!! There are also
numerous inclusions of epididymite within the smoky quartz crystals as well!!! This specimen is in fantastic condition and displays magnificently!!!
This specimen is incredible in person - the pics don't even come close to doing it
justice!!! This is an extraordinary example of the species!!!
