A rare, old time example of roeblingite from Franklin!!! This specimen consists of a complex mixture of xonotlite, hendricksite, hancockite, andradite, and minor willemite that
hosts a rich vein of tan-colored roeblinigite!!! In addition to the main vein of roeblingite, there are numerous thin stringers and small isolated grains (these features are difficult
to discern in the UV pics but are quite apparent in person)!!! The largest, contiguous mass of roeblingite measures approximately 2.5cm x .5cm!!! The roeblingite
fluoresces a deep red and the xonotlite fluoresces blue, there are also tiny specks of bright yellow willemite as well!!! I must admit that I am not
skilled at taking UV photos and obviously the fluorescent details are way better in person!!! The hancockite is present as reddish microcrystals and the hendricksite is
present as dark reddish micaceous crystals!!! The xonotlite is whitish massive material and the andradite is present as yellowish masses scattered about!!! There
is possibly more going on with this specimen and it is best appreciated with magnification!!! This specimen retains an old, unattributed label as well!!! The pics
don't even come close to doing this valuable specimen justice!!!
