Description/Interesting Notes:
An extraordinary example of this extremely rare, INDIUM bearing species from France!!! Of all the four thousand plus known
mineral species, there are just a few that contain this rare element - and they are all extremely rare!!! This specimen
consists of a large, rich, and showy example of roquesite in association with reddish-silver bornite and brassy golden chalcopyrite with
colorful accents of green malachite, blue azurite, and other associated species!!! This specimen is a broad slab that is quite
handsome in and of itself, with its mix of brilliant metallic hues combined with a colorful and complex matrix!!! One side of the
specimen has been expertly polished to a mirror-brilliant finish!!! It was difficult to capture it in the pics because of its
highly reflective polish - however in person one can see the brilliant metallic features as well as all of the colorful matrix at the same time!!!
This specimen is very attractive in person and WAY better than the pics show!!! However - aesthetics aside - this is an EXTRAORDINARY example of
this extremely rare mineral species!!! There is a small area marked on the specimen where a representative
mass of roquesite was confirmed, however there is a rich showing of the species throughout the entire specimen!!! Upon close
inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see clearly see masses, grains, and veins of roquesite distributed through both
the bornite and chalcopyrite as well as some of the associated matrix as well!!! The roquesite has a grayish silvery metallic
hue that, upon close study with a loupe or a scope, is notably different than the other associated metallic species!!! This
is a VERY significant and valuable example of this rare species indeed!!! This specimen has fantastic provenance as well!!!
This specimen retains a label from the "Bureau de Recherches Geologiques et Minieres"
(which is the French equivalent of the U.S. Geological Survey) written in Dr. Sainfeld's hand that mentions Dr. Picot as well!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer
and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED FRIDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 7-DAY AUCTION, ENDING *FRIDAY* NOVEMBER 23rd (THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING)!!!
Don't forget!!! THIS AUCTION WILL END ON *FRIDAY*, NOVEMBER 23rd, due to the upcoming U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
