An incredible, old time combination specimen from Tsumeb!!! This specimen is from very old, first oxidation zone Tsumeb material and consists of a
highly complex assemblage of minerals!!! There are numerous fingers of smithsonite that host a layer of sky-blue to turquoise colored rosasite some of which
show cores of malachite that appears to be altering to rosasite!!! The smithsonite crystals are white and opaque with a core layer of crystals being pale green!!!
In person, it appears that the rosasite could actually be replacing a subsequent generation of smithsonite crystals (they have replaced something for certain)!!!
There are also a few malachite pseudomorphs after azurite perched among the rosasite formations!!! Upon close inspection one can find some cerussite crystals (some of which
exhibit some replacement as well!) and tiny submillimeter crystals of bright apple green, somewhat gemmy crystals of what are likely duftite crystals!!!
This specimen is simply incredible in person - there is a LOT more going on than it appears!!! This specimen is quite handsome as well!!! The pics hardly do
it justice!!!
