Rosasite & Cerussite after Azurite
Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Mun. de Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
7cm x 4.6cm x 2.45cm
Ex. Florence Mecke Collection
Ex. Tony Nikischer Collection
Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely INCREDIBLE example of rosasite from Ojuela!!! This specimen consists of a highly complex
group of azurite crystals that have been completely replaced by intense turquoise blue colored rosasite
crystals!!! In addition to these amazing pseudomorphs there are complex networks of elongated cerussite crystals - many of
which have a partial coating of jet-black crystals of plattnerite (although they are tiny, they are sharp, lustrous prismatic crystals)!!!
There are also a few tiny yellow crystals of an unidentified species present as well - present as complexly etched tabular crystals (wulfenite?)!!!
Some of the pseudomorphs appear to be partially replaced by intergrown cerussite crystals as well!!! This specimen has stunning color
and displays gorgeously all around!!! There is a lot going on with this specimen and it is simply amazing upon close study!!! Old material!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are
going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection this specimen was originally
from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
