Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of this esteemed gem species from Afghanistan!!! This specimen hosts a lustrous, richly colored
ruby perched along side a small amount of calcite matrix!!! The crystal exhibits an elongated, tapering habit and
hosts some small, intergrown crystals of phlogopite mica!!! The crystal shows a somewhat complex termination that
was partially intergrown with some phlogopite!!! One side of the crystal has small, orange-amber crystals of gem
phlogopite occupying shallow impressions on its surface!!! However the phlogopite is difficult to discern from the
more intensely colored ruby!!! The other sides of the
crystal have complex networks of brilliantly lustrous faces!!! Although it is somewhat complex, the crystal is terminated and complete!!!
The crystal measures over 2.25cm!!! Simply a fantastic example of this prized gem species!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 16th!!!
