Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time example of rutile from Georgia!!! This specimen consists
of a large, complex crystal of rutile with some minor pyrophyllite in association!!! The rutile crystal has characteristic brownish red color and
marked luster!!!
This crystal has some lustrous, curiously curvaceous faces as well as complexly modified faces comprised of
networks of tiny oriented faces with glassy luster!!! The curved features, as well as some curvaceous striations on some surfaces are features
created by a long since absent pyrophyllite matrix!!! This specimen retains a partial A.E. Foote label still affixed and also
retains old labels from the Michigan College of Mines (A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum) as well!!! (It should be noted that the old labels
list "Lincoln County, PA" as the locality - however this is an apparent transcription error since Lincoln County is in Georgia)
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
