A unique, old time example of rutile-included quartz from Japan!!! This specimen consists of a slice of quartz crystal that is very richly
included by brassy needles of rutile!!! Curiously, the rutile crystals exhibit some concentric curves - a feature which is quite unusual!!!
The rutile crystals are also somewhat silvery compared to other localities that produce rutile inclusions!!! There are a few larger
rutile crystals that exhibit the characteristic red color as well!!! Both sides of the specimen are polished and, interestingly, the outer edges show
some very complex crystal faces!!! This specimen is simply fantastic in person!!! The pictures simply could not capture just how
impressive and unique it is!!! This specimen was part of the Pfeiffer-Belli bequest to the Senckenberg Museum in Germany and retains its old label!!! It also
retains a dealer label indicating its year of discovery as 1880!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
