Corundum var. Sapphire Ratnapura, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka 1.3cm x .56cm x .48cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A unique example of this famed gem species from Sri Lanka!!! This specimen consists of a sharp single sapphire crystal that exhibits some unique and attractive coloration!!! This crystal is completely colorless with the exception of bright blue terminations!!! The crystal is sharp, lustrous, gemmy, and complete!!! Both ends are terminated and are punctuated with intense blue outlines!!! The ends have curiously flattened terminations that, upon close examination, exhibit a marked schiller or chatoyance when viewed down the c-axis!!! This unique specimen also has very well crystallized inclusions of phlogopite and an unidentified black mineral!!! Simply a magnificent specimen!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
