Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific pair of old sapphire corundum crystals from South Africa!!! One of the crystals has a reddish color while the other
crystal has a deep violet purple color!!! The reddish specimen looks vaguely like a three-tiered wedding cake made hexagonal prisms!!! The
larger face of the red crystal exhibits a very slight six-rayed form as well!!! The
purple crystal is quite lustrous and exhibits sharp hexagonal form with well-defined raised trigons on its terminal faces!!! Both
crystals exhibit significant translucence and the purple crystal shows small areas of marked clarity as well!!!
This pair of specimens retains an old Schortmann's label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must
be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
