Description/Interesting Notes:
A very unique example of sapphire from Brazil!!! This is a group of 17 individual sapphire specimens!!! These specimens were acquired as a lot in an old collection and were simply labelled as coming from Brazil!!!
This is older material and was in the company of other Brazillian minerals, however examples of sapphire from Brazil are somewhat uncommon and these
specimens are quite different than specimens from the few, better known Brazillian localities!!! Upon first glance, these crystals
may appear to be Sri Lankan in origin, however they are VERY different in several key ways!!! They are also very different from any
other locality that we know of, however we have been researching them and will update the listing if we find out any other additional info!!! The
crystals are more or less prismatic, rather than the more common pronounced bipyramidal forms seen from Sri Lanka!!! There are a couple
groups of parallel associated crystals that do show more bipyramidal tendency than the other single crystals!!! The crystals have very sharp, glassy faces and
no appearance of alluvial wear!!! Some of the crystals show some very complex, irregular faces as well!!! Some of the crystals
have cores of blue color and many of them have faint, uniform "silk" that gives them a handsome "glow"!!! There are a few crystal
fragments that have gemmy clarity and great color!!! Any collector who is very familiar with this gem species should
immediately recognize that these are quite unique indeed (We are doing our best to nail down further Brazillian locality information - with
such notable examples I am sure there is some report or literature somewhere if a locality does exist!)!!!
The specimens are being sold as a complete group, just as we aquired them!!! Don't miss out!!!
