Scapolite Marble occurrence, Morogoro, Uluguru Mts (Uruguru Mts), Morogoro Region, Tanzania 3.35cm x 2.2cm x 2.17cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of scapolite from Tanzania!!! The great majority of scapolite specimens from this locality are a golden yellow color, however there were a few errant crystals that exhibited an intense purple color!!! These rare purple scapolite crystals exhibit a pronounced dichroism down the c-axis!!! The prism faces exhibit a lively purple color while the c-axis exhibits an intense violet purple that is quite striking in person!!! In addition, this specimen exhibits a noticeable "cat's eye" like schiller when viewed perpendicular to the c-axis with reflected light!!! The pics simply don't capture just how dynamic the specimen is in person!!! This specimen also fluoresces red and orange under SW and LW UV!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
