Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of this very rare garnet species from Magnet Cove!!! Schorlomite garnet is so named because
of its resemblance with schorl tourmaline, however it is actually a very rare type of garnet!!! It is difficult
to appreciate from the pictures, but this specimen is actually very well crystallized for the species and is way
better than the pics show!!! This specimen is actually a cluster of significant, highly complex crystals!!! Much
of what might appear to be damage in the pics is actually highly complex, crystalline material that is clearly
evident in person!!!
Upon close inspection there are a few small areas that show some slight clarity as well!!! The
specimen has dark, near black color but in these small areas one can see some very dark brownish green!!! This
specimen retains an old, personal collection label from Howard Belsky as well as an old label from the University of Missouri Mineralogy Collection!!!
A very fine example of this rare species!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 19th!!!
