Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of scorodite from the type locality in Germany!!! This specimen is actually much more crystallized than the pictures show!!! This specimen
consists of a pyrite-rich matrix that hosts a significant showing of sharp, lustrous scorodite crystals to 4.5mm!!! The crystals exhibit a light
blue color that changes from blue-purple to blue-green depending on the type of lighting!!! There are crystals perched on a portion of the specimen that
has a coating of ochre-colored oxides that appear to
have taken on the color of the underlying matrix, although they are still rather gemmy!!! On the remainder of the specimens the scorodite crystals
exhibit the aforementioned bluish color - however a considerable portion of the matrix hosts a thin layer of broad, complex scorodite crystals that don't show up in the pics!!!
This is a fantastic example of the species for this old time locality - it is WAY better than the pics show!!! This
specimen retains an old Ward's label (with A.E. Seaman catalogue info on reverse, as well "Stamm Asser" note)
and an affixed Seaman Museum catalogue number!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 16th!!!
