Sillimanite with Chabazite Benson's Mines, Benson, Star Lake, St Lawrence Co., New York 7.6cm x 6.7cm x 6.1cm Ex. Albert Peppis Collection No. A-185

Description/Interesting Notes: A rare, old time example of sillimanite from New York!!! This specimen hosts numerous "sunbursts" of radiating sillimanite crystals in a showy orange chabazite matrix!!! The luster and overall definition of the sillimanite crystals is much more dramatic in person!!! There are two large sprays of crystals and numerous smaller ones all around the specimen!!! There are at least two other unidentified species in association!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains his original label!!!
