Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of native silver from Utah!!! When I first saw this specimen from a distance, I thought it was yet another slab of
Canadian silver in some kind of ore matrix, however as soon as I got a closer look it was immediately apparent that this was something entirely different!!! This
specimen consists of a network of near black, brecciated quartzite with veins of whitish calcite that are almost completely filled with bright native silver!!!
The black areas are not ore, but darkly colored quartzite!!! In some of the pictures it is difficult to discern, but MOST of the lighter colored material is
native silver - the veins are nearly solid silver in many areas!!! Upon close inspection one can see that the native silver is present throughout the calcite veins as both
dendritic crystals as well as dense, finely diffused networks and near-solid masses!!! The specimen has been polished on both sides - and they
are both equally striking!!! The combination of brilliantly metallic networks of native silver in combination with the angular, puzzle piece-like
groups of brecciated black quartzite is simplky stunning in person - the picures don't even come close to capturing just how showy and classy this
rare old timer is!!! Looking at the natural edges surounding the specimen, there are several areas where the native silver
is exposed, allowing you to see its finely crystallized nature as well!!! Simply an incredible Utah old timer!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 12th!!!
