Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of native silver from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of an aesthetic showing of
complex, spinel-twinned crystals of native silver in association with a small amount of sphalerite and tiny crystals of
an unidentified species!!! The native silver crystals have sharp, highly complex details with bright metallic luster and
an attractive multi-hued patina!!! Upon close inspection one can see some incredible features on all of the crystals!!! There
is one elongated, gracefully curling crystal that almost resembles a compressed, ribbon-like crystal!! Upon close inspection it
appears that the crystal is actually complete!!! The other crystals have straight, spear-like form with some highly complex features!!!
Upon close inspection one can see a small amount of pale greenish sphalerite and - more importantly - several areas of darkly colored, slightly
iridescent, metallic crystals of an unidentified species that I am told may be a new species (apparently there has been a potential
new species recognized on these old Batopilas silvers that had been previously overlooked and work is currently ongoing to figure out what they are)!!!
Upon close examination with a loupe or scope one can see some very well formed crystals of this material!!! This is a
gorgeous native silver specimen all around and the unidentified association is just icing on the cake!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
