Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of native silver from this historic locality!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of complexly crystallized native
silver in association with some sphalerite in a matrix of solid quartz!!! There is a small amount of darkly colored,
brecciated matrix in association as well!!! The native silver has a handsome "antiqued" patina that gives it a somewhat
golden hue!!! There are complex, crystalline forms visible, including a significant group of unusually compressed crystals!!! There is
some massive sphalerite present that exhibits dark brown to almost golden color in areas!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope
one can see a small amount of acanthite and, surprisingly some sharp but tiny cubo-octahedral galena crystals!!! This specimen retains an old,
handscripted, unattributed label as well!!! Specimens from this historic famous locality are quite scarce and
usually consist of wire silver specimens, however I am told that this specimen has some characteristic features for the locality!!! Rare old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
