Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of native silver from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts a very rich, dense showing of
curly native silver wires in association with complexly altered crystals of pyragyrite and acanthite!!! Nearly all of the
silver on this specimen is present as curly wires of native silver - many of them quite stout!!! The wires
range in size up to over 1.2cm long and up to 5mm wide!!! The wires are much more prominent and significant than
the pics show - in person one can see that the specimen is just LOADED with thick, tightly curled wires!!! The
native silver wires have a handsome "antiqued" patina with accents of darkly colored acanthite on some surfaces!!!
There is a significant association with pyrargyrite, present as complexly altered crystals that apprear to be partially
replaced by acanthite as well!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see numerous crystalline features throughout the
matrix as well as likely other unidentified silver sulfides (there is one significant, hexagonal tabular crystal that resembles an
altered polybasite as well)!!!! This specimen retains an old label from the University of Arizona Mineral Museum that also
notes that it was donated by Russell M. Honea as well!!! This is a killer old time Colorado native silver!!! Don't miss out
on this rare and valuable Colorado classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27th!!!
