Native Silver with Acanthite Keeley-Frontier Mine, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada 4.74cm x 4.6cm x 3cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of native silver with acanthite from Canada!!! This specimen hosts a handsome tangle of native silver wires tucked among a cluster of complex acanthite crystals and calcite on a matrix of cobalt ore!!! The native silver wires are thick and have a classic "antique silver" patina!!! The acanthite crystals are quite curious - upon close inspection one can see that the crystals have numerous tiny pores in areas - giving the impression that they are in the process of alteration or pseudomorphism, there are also tiny bits of silver that can be found weaving in and out of them!!! The calcite crystals are actually surprisingly well formed and have marked clarity with sharp faces!!! There is a lot more going on with this specimen than the pics show!!! This is OLD material!!!
