Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare - and rich, example of native silver from Butte!!! Examples of native silver from Butte are quite rare and highly sought after!!! This specimen
consists of a magnificent, old time example of native silver in a colorful sulphide matrix!!! This specimen hosts a VERY rich showing of
native silver throughout the entire specimen!!! In person one can see that there is WAY more silver than the pics even show!!! The silver
is present as rich networks of compressed masses, sheets, and complex forms!!! The silver ranges in color from a brilliant tin white to an antique
gray-silver!!! The matrix is comprised of a mixture of sulphides includeing chalcocite, bornite, pyrite, and stromeyerite!!! This specimen is from the
collection of Fred T. Greene, a turn-of-the-century author and mining engineer from Butte!!! This specimen retains a label from the
A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with Fred T. Greene notation!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 5th!!!
