Description/Interesting Notes:
A unique, old time example of native silver from this famed historic locality!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of tin-white silver set atop a darkly colored matrix!!!
Upon close inspection, one can see that this dense showing of native silver is actually quite well crystallized!!! Upon inspection with a loupe or scope one can see
some very intruiging, unusual tabular crystals and other curious forms!!! This specimen is quite unusual in person!!! The matrix is somewhat curious as well (it is not a typical ore-like sulphide matrix but
rather a light, opal-like matrix that has is darkly colored from the associated silver (there
is also a somewhat sub-metallic luster to the matrix in some areas, almost as if it has a
ultra-thin coating of silver halides)!!! In addition to the dense mass of native silver crystals, there are fine coatings of microcrystalline silver scattered about the matrix (and throughout it) as well!!!
This specimen retains an old Ward's label as well!!! A very unique old time native silver indeed!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 12th!!!
