"Silver Lead Ore"

Wolverine Mine, Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona

4.48cm x 3.64cm x 2.7cm

Ex. W. H. Roberts Collection

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum,
Michigan Technological University

Description/Interesting Notes:

An unusual, old time example of "silver lead ore" from Bisbee!!! This specimen consists of a mass of curiously curvaceous galena crystals in association with masses of an almost spongiform, clay-like unknown gray mineralization!!! While the galena is most certainly the source of the lead in this ore, I am uncertain as to what form the silver is in - is it in the associated material, or is it intimately associated with the galena (argentiferous galena)?!!! In either circumstance, it is a great old time Bisbee specimen with great provenance!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Seaman Museum along with Roberts Collection notation!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 13th!!!
