Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely INCREDIBLE example of smithsonite from the famed Kelly Mine!!! This specimen consists of a very thick mass of
CHOICE, lapidary-grade blue green smithsonite in association with a small amount of matrix!!! The smithsonite has wonderful
translucence that borders on gemmy!!! This stunning beauty has the rare and highly prized color that has made this locality so famous!!!
The finest color specimens are extremely rare and highly sought after - this specimen has EXTRAORDINARY COLOR!!! I have never seen
finer color in a Kelly smithsonite!!! The marked clarity, combined with the impressive thickness, and intense color come together
to create a very significant specimen indeed!!! The specimen is completely crystalline, with velvety luster across the broad face and
surprisingly large, lustrous crystalline faces around the edges - visible as elongated sprays and groups of parallel crystals!!!
Although there are a couple nicks, they hardly detract in the scope of this specimens incredible color and gem-quality!!! This specimen
is very valuable in simple gem rough alone!!! The color is way, WAY better than the pics show!!! Truly astounding Kelly Mine material - true knock-your-socks-off
color!!! Classic old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
