Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent combination of species from this famed locale!!! This specimen consists of a vuggy matrix that hosts a layer of rare, colorless hopeite crystals
that are topped with doubly terminated, match-head smithsonite crystals with lively red-orange coloration!!! Curiously, it seems that the smithsonite crystals have
"stolen" the chromaphore that usually colors the hopeite from this locality red (and the smithsonite is usually colorless)!!! Upon close examination one can find
tiny submillimeter blades of tarbuttite perched on some of the crystals as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen retains an old label from Bottley & Co., that simply gives the generic term of "calamine" (and a catalogue number of 100)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
