Smithsonite Kelly Mine, Magdalena District, Socorro Co., New Mexico 11cm x 8.1cm x 3.45cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A classic, old time example of smithsonite from this famed locality!!! This specimen hosts of a wonderfully aesthetic display of smithsonite across its broad face!!! The smithsonite is present as a discrete grouping of large, translucent balls of blue green smithsonite!!! The smithsonite has a velveteen luster and upon close inspection one can see numerous minute crystal faces!!! In addition to the hemispherical crystals, there are several somewhat complex crystals present as well!!! This is an old specimen that dates to the 1950's or earlier!!! While there is some damage, it is still a gorgeous old timer and quite showy regardless!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
