A rare locality example of smithsonite from California!!! This specimen consists of group of curiously formed smithsonite crystals with
unique green color!!! The crystals have a velvety luster (under close examination one can see tiny crystal faces) and marked translucence!!! There
are other species present as well including a few patches of tiny hemimorphite crystals and crusts of hydrozincite!!! There are also several intensely colored
blue grains present that have rather intense color (superficially resembling caledonite in color)!!! This specimen was collected by noted California
collector Peggy Gross in 1968!!! Specimens
from this locality are rarely seen!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
