Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of smoky quartz and microcline from this famous locale!!! This specimen consists of a showy smoky
quartz crystal aesthetically perched on a cluster of lightly colored microcline crystals with a few other smaller smoky
quartz crystals in association!!! The smoky quartz crystal exhibits some highly complex growth features and a
uniquely tapered termination (Mecke had a significant suite of quartz crystals with unusual morphology and was
particularly interested in the crystallography of the species)!!! The crystal is complete all around and is way better than the pics show!!! The
crystal has sharp, glassy faces, and gemmy clarity - with characteristically dark smoky color!!! Very showy and
attractive in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the
collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and
there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer
collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 24th!!!
