Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of selenite replacing a fossil from Australia!!! This specimen consist of a sharp, single snail fossil that has
been completely replaced by crystalline selenite!!! This is not a fossil replacement comprised of a network of tiny selenite crystals but rather one
single, contiguous CRYSTAL of selenite!!! Upon close examination one can see that all of the tiny crystal faces are oriented the same direction - a feature
that also gives it a satiny sheen in person!!! The selenite has marked clarity and is actually rather gemmy when viewed through any of the minute
faces!!! The overwhelming majority of these specimens are comprised of turitella snail fossils, however this specimen is a very
rare specimen indeed - I am not certain of the species but it looks similar to a modern day whelk!!! The snail has spikey features that are
sharply preserved and prominent!!! This specimen is in superb condition all around and displays stunningly in person (the shell has an almost glowing translucence and
satiny sheen!)!!! This specimen is a killer in every respect!!! Don't miss out on this rare opportunity!!! This specimen came out of an older collection and
I have never seen another like it!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 29th!!!
