Sodalite
Monte Somma, Somma-Vesuvius Complex, Naples Province, Campania, Italy
6.65cm x 5.63cm x 2.75cm
Ex. University of Michigan, 1933
Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, old time example of sodalite from Italy!!! This specimen hosts a cluster of lustrous, pale green sodalite crystals perched in a broad vug!!!
The main crystal is sharp and lustrous with marked translucence!!! The light green color is characteristic of molybdosodalite!!! This specimen has a label
affixed to the reverse that indicates it was from the University of Michigan and is dated 1933!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Classic material!!!
fluoresces bright orange
