Sodalite with Wurtzite & Pyrite Ladjuar Medam, Sar-e-Sang District, Koksha Valley, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan 4.76cm x 4.66cm x 2.87cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A rare example of GEM sodalite from Afghanistan!!! This specimen hosts a rich display of sharp, glassy, complex crystals of GEM blue sodalite in association with brilliantly metallic pyrite crystals and rare bright orange crystals of Mn-wurtzite!!! While it is difficult to discern in the pictures, most of the crystals are actually complete - however their gemmy clarity and complex glassy faces make them difficult to distinguish!!! The color of the crystals ranges from sky blue to intense royal blue, depending on the size and thickness of the crystals!!! In addition to these exceptional sodalite crystals, there are numerous brightly metallic pyrite crystals, including a larger one on the side of the specimen, and some tiny crystals of bright orange Mn-wurtzite!!! This gem material came from a small, limited find and is quite scarce!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!!
