Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of soddyite from the type locality!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of significant, very well formed
crystals of soddyite on matrix in association with heterogenite and curite!!! The soddyite crystals range in size
to over 2mm and have sharp, lustrous faces!!! The soddyite crystals exhibit color that ranges from
almost black to a lively yellow-orange - the dark coloration is the result of a minor association with
heterogenite included within (there is also a small amount of exposed heterogenite present as well)!!! Upon
close inspection, there are some veins of bright orange curite present in the matrix as well!!! This is a
fantastic example of this rare species indeed - and is way better than the pics show!!! This is old
material from the Sorbonne Museum in France and retains an old, unattributed label that notes it was acquired from "Grossman" in
April of 1933!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 12th!!!
