A very rare example of crystalline sphalerite from Tsumeb!!! This rare, old time specimen consists of a dense mass of colorless sphalerite intergrown with
brightly metallic galena!!! The sphalerite is intensely fluorescent - under longwave UV it fluoresces an intense bright orange, and under shortwave UV
it fluoresces a peach color!!! You can see from the fluorescent pictures that the specimen is comprised mostly of sphalerite (it is so lustrous that it
can be mistaken for the galena in the regular-lighting pictures)!!! Crystalline examples of sphalerite from Tsumeb are very scarce indeed - and this specimen hosts a
vug that is lined with small, complex crystals of colorless sphalerite!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen retains old labels from Ward's and
Michigan College of Mining & Technology!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! A rare Tsumeb find indeed!!!
