Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of sphalerite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen consists of a massive portion of sphalerite in association with
some unidentified species!!! The specimen is comprised mostly of sphalerite, which fluoresces a lively orange under SW and LW UV light!!!
Upon close inspection with a scope, there are a few microcrystals present in tiny cavities and the lustrous cleaves of sphalerite can be clearly seen!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Frank J. Tobey II and retains his meticulously detailed label that notes
"Purchased with Ward's FL-1 Fluorescent minerals with argon bulb for mild UV light in 1934", as well as the original Ward's label as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Rare OLD time material!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
