Description/Interesting Notes:
A historic, old time example of sphene with actinolite from Tilly Foster!!! This specimen consists of a solid matrix of deep green actinolite crystals in association
with clinochlore that hosts a gemmy crystal of yellowish sphene!!! It is difficult to discern in the pictures, but there are actually two crystals of sphene right next to each other, one is a partial crystal, however the other
one is complete!!! The actinolite crystals have deep green color with many of them having a certain degree of internal "flash"!!! There are also numerous areas where
the actinolite crystals appear to be partial or complete pseudomorphs as well!!! This specimen retains an old University of Pennsylvania
label from George Koenig (1844-1913) that notes he acquired it from "Landis" in 1891!!! The specimen also retains its original Seaman Museum label as well!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!!
