While we rarely offer fixed price specimens, we decided to offer some of the specimens that were featured on our Tucson 2010 Show Blog!!!
This is a very rare example of cumengeite on matrix!!! Usually, matrix specimens of boleite and cumengeite have been stabilized, repaired, or
outright faked - with actual, authentic matrix specimens being truly rare!!! This specimen was acquired directly through Jack Crawford
who has been the only one working the district for years now!!! Even though we were confident in its legitimacy, we subjected to rigorous
inspection and testing just to be sure!!! This specimen is absolutely natural and unstabilized in any way!!! This rare beauty hosts
a complex grouping of intergrown cumengeite crystals measuring just over 1cm punctuated by a large sixling twin, aesthetically and
prominently perched on a rigid, very stable matrix!!! The matrix also hosts several gemmy colorless selenite crystals throughout
and, in addition to the selenite, there are nodules of
green paratacamite present as well!!! The green paratacamite provides a wonderful color compliment to the bright royal blue cumengeite, however
it is also interesting to note that, while most of the paratacamite from this locality is seen only as massive material,
this specimen actually hosts crystalline paratacamite!!! Cumengite is one of the "Holy Grail" mineral species and specimens are
exceedinglky difficult to come by - with matrix specimens being even more so!!! You don't want to miss out on this one!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
